Casio’s 8 megapixel Exilim W63CA cellphone gets FCC approved

First off, the chance of this Japanese super-phone coming to the US or anywhere else outside of Nippon is slim. FCC approval or not, it’s likely only being tested for global roaming. However, as slim is its chances are, they’ve improved dramatically now that Japan’s government is behind a push to promote its twisty, folding phones abroad. This Exilim-branded Casio / Hitachi mashup sports an 8 megapixel camera and with any luck, it’s using that new Omnivision sensor meant to revolutionize cameraphones. As followup to the W53CA, this 3G W63CA flip will no doubt feature the same high-resolution, 800 x 480 pixel swiveling display of its cousin. With autumn nearing, we expect to see the W63A announced any day in a typical shotgun blast of seasonal phones from KDDI.

Navigon 7200T GPS Has 3D Landmarks, Free Live Traffic Info [GPS]

Navigon’s upcoming 7200T GPS unit has some pretty high-end features: voice destination entry, photo-realistic 3D views of roads with lane guidance icons and 3D landmarks built-in. But its niftiest feature is free real-time traffic info updates with no subscription fees, for life. That’s just got to be handy, and comes over an FM receiver from Clear Channel’s Total Traffic Network. The 3D road rendering is designed to stop you making the mistake I made last night: mistranslating a GPS display onto the complicated road interchange I was trying to cross because the two looked different. The Lane Assistant feature even tries to give you advance warning of which lane you’ll need to be in before a junction. It’s due in October for $449. Press release below.

While some outfits evidently operate with a dysfunctional Caps Lock key, projectiondesign is taking things to the opposite extreme by announcing the lower-cased spectra, optix and prisma. The aforesaid trio of DLP projectors is gearing up for a CEDIA debut, where they each will be showing off their 720p / 1080p resolutions, UHP VIDI lamp technology, RealColor management suite, 10-bit processing and HDMI 1.3 connectivity. For the full rundown of specifications (no prices, sorry), tag the read link — and don’t be shocked to hear a teaser about the helios (pictured) and two other unnamed units destined for Q4.

Unlocking the Apple IPhone 3G

The Apple iPhone 3G was announced in a blaze of glory that eclipsed most of the other smart phones on the market, but it remains to be seen whether Apple has really provided users with exactly what they want. Less than a year after the original iPhone went on sale the technology giant promises new users of the latest iPhone that they will be given the chance to officially download 3rd party applications through the App store. But how quickly will an unlocked version become available?

The second generation phone is an updated smart phone with GPS and a 16 GB memory. The 3G iPhone has a lot to write home about with added support, added GPS, third party applications, and support for a Microsoft Exchange server. Extra 3G support is a massive plus for it. If the trial speed of data transfer is maintained then users really will be carrying the Internet around in their pocket. At half the price and twice the speed of its forerunners the new 3G versions is sure to be popular.

The new phone is thinner at the edges than the earlier version and slightly thicker in the middle, other measurements remain the same although the unlock iphone 3g is 2grams lighter than its predecessor. It no longer has the recessed headphone jack, which some users found annoying, it is now flush enough for any 3.5mm headphones.

Due to go on sale July the 11th the phone will be on offer in black with 8GB of memory or in black or white with 16GB of memory. Sources suggest that the new iPhone will be available in the UK from Apple, 02 and the Carphone Warehouse.

The 8GB model will be on sale for £99 on a new £30 monthly contract or an existing £35 contract – if you choose the higher tariffs of £45 and £75 a month then you will get the 8GB iPhone free. Prices are quite a bit steeper for the 16GB version with the phone costing £159 on the £30 and £35 tariffs, £59 for the £45 tariff and free on the £75 tariff.

Users will continue to receive unlimited data whatever their tariff although they could find that they will be liable for O2’s excessive use policy. On the upside however you will be able to browse over O2’s HSDPA network and unlimited access to 9,500 Wi-Fi hotspots through BT Openzone and the Cloud.

Although the addition of 3G and GPS make the iPhone2.0 attractive it is still without some of the basic features found on much cheaper phones, including multimedia messaging and voice messaging.

ViewSonic shows off a 120Hz LCD computer display

Posted by: singhbishan on: October 3, 2008

NVIDIA’s NVISION conference kicked off without too many announcements today, but ViewSonic was making some waves with a prototype 120Hz LCD display that it says brings HDTV-level motion and crispness to the desktop without sacrificing resolution. The 1680 x 1050 22-inch monitor will eventually hit as the VX2265wm, with dual-link DVI inputs, stereoscopic 3D support, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 3ms response time, and 4-watt speakers — hopefully we’ll get an official price and ship date soon.

Sony gets official with PSP-3000

Posted by: singhbishan on: October 2, 2008

Sony have taken the wraps off of the long-awaited PSP-3000, the latest update to their popular handheld games console.  Although the name might make it sound like a significant update, the key areas really boil down to a new or at-least altered screen, a built-in microphone and the inclusion of a ‘PS’ button.

It’s not like Sony could really keep this thing under wraps for much longer, but the company finally did the deed by announcing the PSP-3000 at the Leipzig Games Convention. The unit itself will look exactly like the PSP-2000, though it will feature an “improved screen that’s better outside with no glare and a built-in mic.” The juicy tidbits have yet to surface, but we are told to expect the new handheld in Europe for €199 ($291) on October 15th.

IronKey Flash USB, Best security in the world !

IronKey with characteristic self-destruction, if you are concerned about security thing or you care about not losing your Flash USB stuff then IronKey Flash USB is the best for you, ironKey gives you the total secirity for your all data, it protects you from anyone who isallowed to access it.

if someone tries to access logs of memory chips, it likely will cause damage to the memory and break it instead. IronKey available in sizes 1, 2, 4 and 8 GB.

Today, Great TV whether it be Direct TV, Dish Network or the local cable company is as much of a household staple as the can opener. Watching your favorite TV shows or keeping up to date with the recent current events or weather can not only help you relax but also keep your family entertained. With so many options available where do you begin? Is there a difference in cost? Hopefully by the end of this article you will better know what to expect.

First you must decide what your requirements are. Do you watch sports? Do you need local channels? Do you live on a specific channel? If this is the case, write down the channels that interest you so you can keep this in mind when we compare services.

Next you must decide between the big two, Cable or Satellite (satalite). After comparing prices I found that satellite was actually considerably cheaper per month for more channels than my local cable company. My only concern with switching service was the reliably of a Satellite (satalite) Dish. This was probably due to multitude of negative commercials my local cable company has shown. Commercials that depict the reliability of satellite service equal to a “your lucky if it ever works” service. Ironically, after several cable outages I checked into prices and found that the price difference was worth the plunge. To my surprise I have not lost reception yet! In my opinion, it seems like only the really really bad storms must block a noticeable amount of service and in those cases I am probably going to unplug my TV and head for cover anyway.

I have been very pleased with Dish Network so far so if you want to try it out you can go visit the links below. The only reason I chose Dish Network over Direct TV was a small difference in price and the package fit my taste just a little better. Most Satellite (satalite) services will offer a free dish or installation package if you have a decent amount of credit. If you don’t have credit yet or if it is tarnished, you may need to pay for your receiver. But the upside is it will usually be free if you keep your service for a while. You will usually get an amount back every bill as a refund and you can move your equipment from house to house if you decide to move because you paid for it
